Position Description:
PhD and Research Assistant Positions focusing on the Inverse Design of Perovskite-based Materials
The “Inverse Design by Efficient & Accurate ab initio Simulations (IDEAs)” group at the City University of Hong Kong (Dongguan) (CityUHK (DG)) invites applications for 1 PhD position and several Research Assistant positions.
Research Focus: Inverse design of perovskite-based materials systems, including the discovery of 1) pure-phase 2-dimensional perovskites and 2) stable and efficient perovskite-based solar cells. Research activities include:
- Developing multiscale models to reveal the underlying mechanisms of the light-induced phase segregation phenomenon.
- Developing the formation mechanisms of the 2-dimensional perovskite materials systems
- Developing efficient machine learning-aided first-principles software achieving standard DFT accuracy with significantly reduced computational resources and time.
- The Inverse design of materials systems based on the combination of machine learning and DFT calculations.
Positions:
- PhD Positions: A collaborative program with the City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) with full scholarships. Students will complete the required coursework at the Hong Kong campus in the first year and then work at the Dongguan campus. Students will receive a CityUHK degree upon graduation.
- Research Assistant Positions: Primarily based at the Dongguan Campus.
Qualifications:
- Experience with first principle calculations combined with machine learning algorithms is highly advantageous.
- Excellent written and oral English communication skills are required.
Application:
Submit a cover letter and CV.
